Your job is matched against 831 US occupations and scored with the official BLS AI Exposure Categories (Aug 2026), Microsoft's study of 200K real Copilot conversations, OpenAI's task exposure ratings, and O*NET task data.

Data sources and methodology
Most job-risk calculators still run on a 2013 Oxford automation study whose predictions did not survive contact with reality. This tool is grounded in current, task-level research instead:
- BLS AI Exposure Categories (Aug 2026): the official US government exposure rating for every occupation, published with the 2025 to 2035 employment projections that also supply our wage, growth, and openings data.
- Microsoft Research, "Working with AI" (2025): AI applicability scores for 785 occupations, measured from 200,000 real Copilot conversations.
- OpenAI, "GPTs are GPTs": the share of each occupation's tasks a large language model can meaningfully speed up.
- O*NET 31.0 (US Department of Labor): the task statements, importance weights, and 46,000 job titles that power the task-by-task breakdown and job search.
- Live web layer: Google organic and news results for your occupation, fetched at analysis time and cited inline in your report.

How accurate is this AI job risk checker?
More honest than most. Older tools still run on a 2013 Oxford study whose predictions failed badly (occupations it flagged as doomed actually grew). Our score blends four current sources: the official BLS AI Exposure Categories published in August 2026, Microsoft's "Working with AI" study built from 200,000 real Copilot conversations, OpenAI's task exposure research, and O*NET task data, plus a live web scan of your exact occupation. We also show employment projections next to the risk score, because high AI exposure does not automatically mean job loss.
What does the percentage actually mean?
It is the likelihood that AI substantially takes over the core tasks of your job within roughly 10 years, adjusted for your experience level. It is not a prediction that you personally will be laid off. Research in 2026 shows the pressure concentrates on early-career workers in highly exposed office jobs, while most occupations transform rather than disappear.
Why does it ask for my experience level?
Because the data says it matters a lot. Stanford research on payroll data found employment of 22 to 25 year olds in the most AI-exposed occupations running about 19% below its expected level, while senior workers in the same occupations held steady. Your report weighs this.
What is the live web search part?
Along with research datasets, the tool searches Google and Google News for your occupation at the moment you run it, so the report can cite what is being written about AI and your field this week, not just what studies said last year.
